Linguistic and dialogical turns in anthropology

In this article I address and discuss the term dialogism and its methodological applicability. The point of entrance are two different spaces where anthropologists study the practices of other anthropologists, including their ”handling of inaccessibility”, to use a term that was launched by the anthropologist Inger Altern. The first meeting space concerns the discussions that came up after Marianne Gullestad had published the book Det norske sett med nye øyne in 2002 (see also Plausible Prejudice 2006) ). The other meeting space concerns my own experiences from a complex fieldwork filled with conflicts some years ago. Do anthropologists react as ”the other people” when their language practices are studied?
